My five year old daughter is a feminine-enthusiast, who loves everything pink and flowers and ballet–the typical “girlie girl”. When I spotted this stunning porcelain teapot from Portugal at Home Goods, I thought it would be the most beautiful centerpiece for a little girl’s tea party. I also thought that the matching porcelain (it’s likely quite clear that I have a love for white porcelain–it’s classic and sophisticated) serving dish with notched edges would serve the daintiest biscuits, tea sandwiches or scones. And so both dishes came home with us!
I found these clean and simple tea cups and saucers at World Market and love how the all-white ensemble, as opposed to the traditional floral painted tea dishes, are timeless and classic but have a modern and minimalist style. This is something I try to implement in This Soirée: a blend of modern and classic sophistication. These tea cups and gold teaspoons fit just that.
I decided to make these mixed berry scones with a lemon glaze to serve my daughter and her friend with their “tea”. My kitchen smelt of berry heaven and the lemon glaze added just enough ting to the thick dough. We all devoured them a little too quickly.
Fresh roses were picked from our front yard bushes and were placed inside these test tube vases. I hope you’re able to enjoy and host a little girl’s scone & tea party using classic white porcelain dishes, fresh roses from the garden and delicious mixed berry scones with a lemon glaze.
