If you’re hosting a soirée for the 2018 midnight countdown, create an indulging display with a plum and gold New Year’s Eve party. The color combination is a classic metallic paired with the deep, surprising hue of purple. I’ve always had a soft spot for jewel-tones because of their depth and richness. However, I also love that they offer a regal vibe and can still be used in a casual setting.
Although I’m fond of the icy winter hues often used for a frosty New Year’s Eve party, I decided to bring a richness to the winter holiday by utilizing a palette of metallic gold and plum for the decor. Decorating with an unexpected color scheme sets you and your party apart from every other black and silver New Year’s Eve party (although that combination is timeless!). This offers uniqueness and a signature touch to your event.
This plum and gold New Year’s Eve party is still classic with its bright whites, gilded sequins and geometric shapes but gives a soft and lavish feeling with plum florals.
With New Year’s Eve being a late night event, heavy foods and meals aren’t usually common nor needed. Instead, try serving light appetizers or a simple charcuterie platter with celebratory beverages. A basic charcuterie platter offers a variety of soft and hard cheeses, deli meats and crackers or breads. Pairing these with something sweet such as fresh or dried fruit (grapes, berries, figs, prunes) and something salty or crunchy (assorted nuts) will add even more options and variety for guests to create their own pairings. The idea with cocktail parties is to keep it simple so everyone can enjoy the socializing and celebrations. I hope you all have the happiest new year!
